The Director
Dr. Ghislaine Lewis serves as the Director for Pierce Street Gateway. Dr. Lewis is an associate professor of Communication Studies and co-chair of the Africana Studies department at the University of Lynchburg.
She is a graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and has advanced degrees from Florida A&M University, the University of Canterbury and Monash University.
She is actively involved in the nonprofit sector in Lynchburg and has a passion for travel.
Community Engagement Coordinator
Sarah Blankenship serves as the Community Engagement Coordinator and board member for Pierce Street Gateway.
Her expertise lies in elevating Pierce Street Gateway through sustainable partnerships, innovative solution implementation, and impactful social media outreach strategies.
She enjoys engaging in opportunities that allow connections to flourish and is an advocate for her community. Her expertise is in finding ways to participate in directing benefits, programs, and projects for those in need of local resources.
Sarah is extremely passionate about creating safe and inclusive environments for all.
Administrative Coordinator
Clotilda serves as Administrative Coordinator for Pierce Street Gateway. She specializes in community engagement and helping to elevate the organization’s social media platforms, website, and taking care of any necessary administrative responsibilities.
She is a graduate of The University of Missouri with a degree in documentary journalism and has a passion for music as well as creating spaces where individuals feel safe to express themselves.
